Skin Lesion Removal Laser Treatment

Skin Lesion Removal Laser TreatmentA skin lesion is an abnormal bump, lump, sore, ulcer, or colored area on the skin. Common skin lesions include actinic keratosis or moles, among others. Laser treatments can effectively eliminate most types of benign and raised skin lesions.

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Suzanne Quardt (Dr. Q) provides safe and proven laser therapy to patients in Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, and surrounding locations.

CO2RE Laser for Treating Skin Lesions

The CO2RE’s multi-wavelength platform is meant to target aging, sun-damaged skin by focusing on the compromised tissue. The laser beam penetrates to exact depths beneath the surface of the skin, gently eliminating damaged skin cells, accelerating the production of collagen, and developing new, healthy skin cells.

This innovative laser technology has the capability to target and correct a wide array of skin issues, including skin lesions. CO2RE laser can be used to eliminate benign raised skin lesions, such as:

  • Papilloma
  • Raised birthmarks
  • Keratosis
  • Moles (not on the sole)
  • Miliums
  • Xanthelasmas
  • Pigment spots
  • Other benign skin lesions

The laser eliminates a skin lesion fully without scarring the skin, unlike traditional surgery. Certain skin lesions begin to re-grow after some time and necessitate repeated procedures. Prior to the treatment, the doctor will evaluate the patient’s skin carefully. They may recommend surgery if there is a suspicion that the skin lesion is cancerous.

Procedure

The laser provider may apply local anesthesia to the treatment area during the laser skin removal procedure. They will target the laser beam over the skin lesion and activate the light pulse. At this time, the patient might experience a little sting.

The treated site will have a whitish appearance after the treatment. The laser beam goes into the skin, and the uppermost skin layer and melanin pigment will absorb the light energy. The thermal effect quickly heats melanin, which is isolated from the dermis. This enables the easy removal of the pigmented lesion with sterile gauze.

After the Procedure

The patient may experience skin redness and light crusting after the treatment, which will resolve within five to seven days. If necessary, the next treatment can be undertaken after four to six weeks.

  • The treated site should not be exposed to the sun for at least two months, and the patient should apply protective sunscreen SPF 50
  • The treated area should not be washed for 24 hours
  • The patient should avoid swimming pools and sauna for at least ten days

Why Choose CO2RE Laser Skin Resurfacing?

The CO2RE platform has a total of six distinct treatment modalities for maximum versatility:

  • CO2RE Light: For a more superficial treatment targeting the uppermost layer of the epidermis
  • CO2RE Mid: For a slightly more robust fractional ablative effect, penetrating the dermis more deeply
  • CO2RE Deep: Penetrates into the dermis for the maximum fractional ablative effect
  • CO2RE Fusion: Provides an innovative blend of depth and intensity to optimize the treatment of both the dermis and epidermis at the same time

Other Advantages

  • A traditional laser resurfacing mode
  • An excision mode for minor dermal excisions

The CO2RE system’s multi-purpose functionality enables the laser specialist to meticulously customize a complete skin rejuvenation plan, depending on the specific needs of the patient. This plan includes the exact amount of ablative and/or non-ablative fractional treatment necessary to achieve the patient’s desired goals.
