The Nature of Age Spot Treatment

The Nature of Age Spot TreatmentLaser treatments can help reduce age spots. However, people with a genetic predisposition to the development of hyperpigmentation are always at risk when undergoing laser treatments. This risk occurs as lasers, even with their advanced cooling systems, impact the topmost skin layers.

This can cause hyperpigmentation after the treatment as the uppermost skin layers are affected by the laser. Although this is temporary, hyperpigmentation is always an unappealing side effect of laser treatments for people with darker skin.

The eMatrix Sublative Rejuvenation med spa treatment for age spots offers patients a procedure that mitigates the risk of post-treatment hyperpigmentation. This becomes possible because the radio frequency (RF) wavelengths of the eMatrix system are not absorbed by the cells that generate the pigment.

Dr. Q Medical Spa, led by board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Suzanne Quardt, provides age spot treatments to patients in Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, and surrounding locations across the landscape.

Difference between eMatrix and Laser

eMatrix Sublative Rejuvenation med spa treatment is not based on light or lasers. It harnesses RF energy and delivers it to the dermis where it offers substantial deep tissue enhancements with minimal effects on the epidermis.

eMatrix bypasses the epidermis and delivers RF energy to the deeper skin layers. This minimizes the problems associated with hyperpigmentation. In addition, patients can also discuss how mild or aggressive they want their procedure to be with the treatment provider.

The eMatrix treatment is customizable with the options of more aggressive treatments for dramatic outcomes or milder treatments, which can be spread across a number of treatment sessions.

Is eMatrix Painful?

The treatment provider will apply a topical anesthetic to the targeted site. This procedure does not require the patient to have strong drugs for pain management.

The sensations during the treatment are similar to the snapping of a rubber band against the skin. The time taken for the treatment session ranges between ten and 20 minutes, depending on the surface area receiving treatment.

The downtime associated with this age spot treatment varies. Mild treatment sessions may involve one or two days of social downtime due to redness and possibly slight inflammation. The downtime will depend on how aggressive the treatment is.

There are no restrictions on the activities that a person can undertake. However, the patient may want to stay at home or away from social settings due to the redness, and slight crusting may occur following the eMatrix sublative rejuvenation treatment.

Each patient heals differently, and the expected downtime will depend on the level of treatment. Patients should plan on staying away from social engagements for four to five days with a mid-level procedure or nearly one week with aggressive treatments with the highest level of energy.

The mild downtime following the age spot treatment will include some inflammation, redness, slight crusting, and itching as the skin recovers from the procedure.

Risks and Side Effects from eMatrix

The eMatrix treatment can be a little uncomfortable for the patient. The provider will apply a topical anesthetic to the treatment site around 30 minutes before the procedure to ensure that the patient remains comfortable. The successful Dr. Q Medical Spa receives patients from Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, and other towns and suburbs in this section of the US for age spot treatments.
