Palm Springs Face Lift | Palm Desert Facelift
Facelifts are performed to counteract sagging skin, deep creases, fatty deposits and other signs of aging in the face and neck. Also known as rhytidectomy, facelifts provide the most dramatic results when performed to improve these age-related indications:
- Sagging in the midface
- Deep creases under the eyes or between the nose and corners of the mouth
- Sagging or out-of-place fat
- Jowls
- Double chin
Of course, facelifts can’t fix all the signs of aging or damage that accumulate on the face over time. However, there are many procedures that can be done to supplement a facelift and provide even greater rejuvenation. These include brow lifts, blepharoplasty/eyelid surgery, facial fillers, and chemical peels.
Depending on your specific problem areas, you may also achieve a more youthful, refreshed look without needing a complete facelift. Neck lifts and mini-facelifts are two alternatives to facelifts for people seeking improvement in the midface or neck only.
The Procedure
Facelifts require anesthesia. Dr. Quardt will discuss what type of anesthesia is most appropriate for you.
For a traditional facelift, Dr. Quardt will make an incision under the hairline at the temples, around the ear, to the lower scalp. This means your scars will be hidden beneath your hair and in the natural creases of your face and ears. She will then sculpt or redistribute the fat, lift muscle and deep tissue, and redrape and trim excess skin. She may make a second incision under the chin if you are also improving an aging neck.
For a limited incision or “mini” facelift, Dr. Quardt will use shorter incisions at the temples, around the ear and possibly within the lower eyelids or under the upper lip.
If you undergo a neck lift as well, the incision often runs from the front of the ear lobe, behind the ear and to the lower scalp.
Recovery
You should expect some swelling and bruising after a facelift. As these subside, you should see a younger, more rested-seeming self looking back at you in the mirror.
